My name is Edimar Calebe Castanho, I’m a senior software engineer with 7+ years on the road — I started tinkering with firmware on PIC18F and FreeRTOS, went through IoT data pipelines on the highway, and today I work with cloud and backend in Python.
I’ve built a bit of everything: an OBD-II device with GPRS for fleet tracking, BLE trackers for museums, a custom Debian (“T2Ibian”) for edge servers along the road, and an aquarium automation system on a Raspberry Pi with a Vue.js dashboard. At T2I Group and Alta Rail Technology, I mixed C/C++, Python and Flutter — firmware, backend and mobile in the same team.
More recently, I was a senior cloud and backend engineer at LuizaLabs (Magalu Cloud), automating VM lifecycle on OpenStack with FastAPI, and a senior software engineer at Galileo.ai (acquired by Cisco), working with GenAI observability and OpenTelemetry. Today I’m a senior cloud engineer at Illumina, leading the migration from vSphere to AWS with ephemeral GitHub Enterprise runners, Terraform and Packer.
My current stack: Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django, asyncio), TypeScript/Node.js, AWS and OpenStack with Terraform and Ansible, and CI/CD on GitHub Actions and GitLab CI. I’ve always liked low-level stuff — C/C++, Linux, embedded systems — and DevOps practices: automation, continuous integration, and doing more with less.
On this blog I write about what I actually did: mechanical keyboards, self-hosting, games in C/SDL2, ESP32, and whatever else comes up. No fluff, mistakes included.
